Sunday 5th December
Arbroath to Auchmithie & Christmas Lunch
Distance 7km, OS map 54
We start at grid reference 658 412 from the car park in Arbroath. The walk takes us northwards along a mostly tarmac cliff top path. The geologists among us will enjoy the beautiful rock formations, strata and caves.
If we are lucky we may see seabirds resting on the rocks. A short detour can be made down to Carlinheugh bay to view the coast and cliffs from sea level.
This is a short walk taking approximately 2 - 2 and a half hours. We arrive at the But 'n' Ben in Auchmithie for lunch by 1 pm.
Walkers must wear walking boots, carry WARM and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and take plenty of food and liquids. THESE ARE ESSENTIAL. Be prepared for possible wintry conditions, whatever the forecast.
Meet at Culter Village Hall 9am. Return 6 pm.
Transport by bus, £12 for members, £15 for non members.
Phone: 01224 811537 or 01224 733710
Closing date Wednesday 1st December, 2010.
