SHOOTING GREENS
Strachan Nr Banchory, followed by Christmas Lunch
Distance 6.25 miles Ascent: 248 m OS Map 45
Our festive walk this year, followed by lunch at the Feughside Inn, is on a circular route on good forest track, walking time around 3 hours including time for a short break. The track leads us from the Shooting Greens car park, briefly through Slewdrum Forest before entering Blackhall Forest and continuing up to the Hill of Tillylair. There are more “ups” than “downs” but the views en route, especially towards the end of our walk over to Clachnaben and Peter Hill are lovely. During our recees we saw deer in the forest – let’s hope we are lucky
and spot them again.
Lunch will be at 2 p.m. A choice of two soups, sandwiches, trifle and tea/coffee for £7. May we ask for £8 per person to cover our driver’s lunch and gratuity to hotel staff. Drinks (soft or alcoholic) available as extras.
Take a light snack and warm drink for our morning break and the obligatory Christmas hat!
Walkers must wear walking boots, carry WARM and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and be prepared for wintry conditions.
Meet at Culter Village Hall 9.15 a.m. for 9.30 a.m. departure
