PANNANICH HILL (601m) AND CRAIG VALLICH (609m)

7 miles/ 11 km/425 m ascent OS map 44

We start at Grid Ref 366947 by the entrance to the road to Glen Muick. There is space for two cars here, otherwise parking is roadside just past the cemetery on the B976. The walk starts with a steady ascent on track and turns off left and north just before the Mount Keen path. There is a bothy here if the weather is inclement. Shortly after this there is an opportunity to make a short off path detour to the top of Craig Vallich before continuing to Pannanich Hill with good views of Ballater en route. After Pannanich Hill summit, the track descends, eventually emerging through woodland just beside Glen Muick House. Approximately 4 hours walking plus stops.

Walkers must wear walking boots, carry WARM and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and take plenty of food and liquids. THESE ARE ESSENTIAL. Be prepared for possible wintry conditions and snow, whatever the forecast.

Meet at Culter Village Hall at 8.30 am.

Transport by car remuneration to drivers. Offers to drive would be appreciated.

Contact: Mike and Jenny on 01224 861629.

Closing date Wednesday 3rd November
