This walk is in a little known area of forest and low hills called Gartly Moor, north of Insch and East of the Glens of Foudland. Great views may be seen of surrounding hills e.g. Tap o’ Noth, Bennachie, Knock Hill and Ben Rinnes.
We start at the car park at 580327, and ascend the first hill immediately - Wishach Hill, 419m, 573332 - with views of Hill of Foudland. Then we walk East, views to the North open out, and we ascend Hill of Corskie, 417m, 546326. A cicuitous route takes us to open ground to ascend Knockandy Hill, 434m, 549314. We have to retrace our steps in part to reach the main track back, skirting the Malsach Burn to the car park.
Walkers must wear walking boots, carry WARM and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and take plenty food and liquids. THESE ARE ESSENTIAL. Be prepared for possible wintry conditions on the top whatever the forecast.
Meet at Culter Village Hall 9am, Return around 4.30pm
