CLACHAN YELL

Length 17 Km, 10.5 miles Ascent approx 400m
OS sheet 44

The route starts at the car park at the Home Farm Glen Tanar (NO475956). The way starts through woodland and crosses the Water of Tanar at NO462942, picking up the path to Clachanyell NO466939. The path continues up hill and then we need to branch off the path for the steep (and quite hard) climb through heather to the rocky outcrop of Clachanyell 626m at NO446912. The views are extensive in clear weather. We will retrace our steps to the landrover track and when we meet the Glen Tanar track we will end the walk at the car park via the visitor centre.

Gaiters needed

Walkers must wear walking boots, carry warm and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and take plenty food and liquids. THESE ARE ESSENTIAL. Be prepared for possible wintry conditions on the top whatever the forecast.

Meet at Culter Village Hall 8.30 am
Return approximately 4.30pm
