Sunday 4th April Dufftown Circular

Distance 11.5m, 18.5k; Ascent 260m; OS map 28

Three lineal walks creating a loop linking three towns, taking in part of the Speyside Way. Leaving Craigellachie railway station we take a low level path along the line of the disused railway, through woodland above the River Fiddich. After 5 miles we reach Dufftown. (Height climbed 100m) We then have a hill crossing on paths of varying quality; through farmland and woodland till we reach Aberlour (4 miles, Height climber 160m). From the Speyside Way Centre we take a clear path along side the River Spey. After approximately 2 miles the path passes the Craigellachie Hotel and then emerges at the Fiddich car park from where we started.

Walkers must wear walking boots, carry WARM and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and take plenty food and liquids. THESE ARE ESSENTIAL. Be prepared for possible wintry conditions and snow on the top whatever the forecast.
